Under the Banner of Indian high Commission and the International Day of Yoga committee, Hindu council of Kenya, Kisumu branch, with the proud leadership of Mrs. Kalpnaben Karia, celebrated the 2nd International day of Yoga on June 19, in Kisumu. These celebrations took place within two venues, the morning celebration kicked off at 7.30am at the Shree Sanatan Hindu Dharma Mandal hall, though being a Sunday, the participants arrived in good numbers and after the registration process the event started. INDIA’S PRE – INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION On 13th August 2016 Hindu Council of Kenya Kisumu branch organised an Immaculate Programme at the SSHU Temple to celebrate the Pre-Independence day of India. This programme was graced by the Chief Guest High Commissioner of India to Kenya her excellency Mrs. Suchitra Durai and her husband Ambassador Mr. Swaminathan. In her address Mrs. Suchitra Durai praised the wonderful work done by Hindu Council HRE Committee (Who organised the programme). She also spoke about the Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi’s visit to Kenya and the beautiful relationship between India and Kenya. The Programme was sponsored by the ABC Bank. The CEO of the ABC Bank Mr. Sridhar Natrajan and Mr. Raj Arora came from Nairobi to grace the occasion. The Programme started with Ganesh, Maa Laxmi and Maa Saraswati Prayer Dance. Choreographer Sarika Singh was helped by Akansha Mehra. Bhavita Mandavia Sang a melodious patriotic song. There was a patriotic dance by the Aga Khan Council performed by Farah Basu, Inara Damji and Afsana Virjee. The highlight of the Programme was the 1 Hour Multi Media musical Ballet on “THE CREATION” which was produced and directed by the Chairperson Mrs. Kalpana Karia, The Beautiful Multi Media effects and the story explained by her mesmerized the audience. Miss Rina Khiroya and Mr. Vijay Chohan helped with the effects. There were over 600 people who attended the programme, delicious dinner was served after the Programme. Mrs. Suchitra Durai was very happy and the tokens of appreciation to the 35 participants were given out by her too.
