Kisumu Branch of Hindu Council of Kenya (HCK), keeping in tradition with its aims and objectives, of nurturing and uplifting of its member institutes, as well as, its local brethrens, organized a Mega Eye Camp, which has become an annual event now.

The Camp was organized under the banner of HCK, in the outskirt of Kisumu, at the Uzima University Grounds, on Sunday, 28th August,2016. The Camp was jointly organized with Virpurdham Jai Jalaram Sewa Ashram, who were the main financier for the project. In all, about 70 people / organizations, donated towards the noble cause. Many a people assisted in organizing logistics for the camp. Together with Eye Camp, HCK distributed 22 Wheelchairs to needy people.

The Camp was given very wide publicity using all media throughout Kisumu County and nearby counties. The response was overwhelming and around 740 patients were screened by a team of Doctors from Sabatia Eye Hospital. From the patients screened, 135 eyes (of 106 patients) were identified for Cataract Operation and are operated at Sabatia Eye Hospital. In all 140 patients were taken to Sabatia Eye Hospital for eye related problems. The patients requiring Medicine, Reading Glasse, Cataract Operation, were assisted, totally free of cost.

A team of 50 volunteers assisted and did volunteering job right from word Go @ 8 am till 5 pm in the evening.

The camp met with a stupendous success due to unstinting support of Donors, Uzima University, Management Committee of HCK and all the volunteers.
